Anei Connects with the Heart of the World: Strategic Alliances from Houston at Specialty Coffee Expo 2025 and the Fair Trade Producers Forum
What happens when organic coffee from Colombia's sacred mountains meets the epicenter of the global specialty coffee market? In April, the answer was in Houston. Anei, an Indigenous and peasant organization from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and the Serranía del Perijá, shone at two of the industry's most important events: Specialty Coffee EXPO 2025 and the Fair Trade Producers Forum.
More than Coffee: A Story That Connects with the Heart of the World
In every conversation, every cup, and every encounter, Anei shared more than high-quality coffee: it shared a model of intercultural sustainable development, a way of life. Our coffee is born from a connection with the land, ancestral knowledge, a collective commitment to sustainability, and fair trade as a driver of social transformation.
During the Specialty Coffee Expo 2025, we met with international buyers, roasters, certifiers, and strategic partners to present our organic, regenerative production model, which strongly focuses on gender equity, youth, and climate resilience. We discussed our achievements and the sector's challenges: the impact of climate change, price volatility, and the urgency of protecting producing territories.
Fair Trade with a Human Face
At the Fair Trade Producers Forum, we shared lessons learned with organizations from different countries. It was a space to reaffirm that fair trade is not just a certification: it is a living tool that empowers communities, promotes equity, and strengthens the sovereignty of Indigenous peoples. There, the voices of women producers, young leaders, and environmental advocates were the protagonists of an inspiring and transformative dialogue.
Building Relationships for a Sustainable Future
Houston was the perfect setting to strengthen alliances, renew the trust of our current buyers, and open new doors to conscious markets. Each conversation was a seed planted, a chance to build more humane, fair, and lasting business relationships.
